New Match

Fans of The O.C., check this out: http://www.ocnewmatch.com/. It's so cool!!!!

Homework diversion

Yep, I'm doing that thing again when I come onto here to update the blog to avoid doing my homework.

Well, here's the news:
1. I'm breaking up tomorrow!!!!! Woohoo!!! I get just over three weeks off.

2. I'm going to New York!!!! I'm so excited! I'm staying with my ex-stepmother and I'm going for four days, before I go back to school. Yay!

3. Kaitlin Cooper has come back on The O.C.! She looks really different to the girl who played her in the first season. But I suppose they think nobody can remember her that far back. Well I can! This actress is good though.

4. I now have the Garden State soundtrack (thanks to my lovely friend Lissie who copied it for me). It's really good.

5. Nothing has actually been happening (that would be of any interest anyway). Today at school we did this Study Skills thing all morning, which was incredibly boring and not actually particularly helpful. But, hey, we got to miss lessons all morning!

6. Smallville was SOOOO good this week! Clark told Lana about his powers and they got engaged but then she died so he went back in time and he didn't tell her and they didn't get engaged and she didn't die but his dad died instead! It was so sad! Annoying that Lana still doesn't know about Clark being Superman though. One thing I don't get though, is how Jonathan Kent can die when he features in loads of the Superman TV shows and films and stuff. Hmm.....

I REALLY should do my homework. I've been putting it off for a week. It's just so boring! I don't care about The Odyssey. It's rubbish! I know it's meant to be one of the greatest works of literature, like, ever, but I hate my teacher so I don't like the book. Figures.

God, better get going. It's already 10pm. Blurgh.

My favourites

I thought I'd post a few of my favourite movies/actors/music on here, because.... well I'm not sure why. I feel like it.

FAVOURITE MOVIES
- Garden State (LOVE it!)
- Stepmom (SOOO sad at the end and some people say it's too cheesy *cough*Livi!*cough*, but again, I love it!)
- The Parent Trap (1998 version) (I still know it completely word-for-word, from when I was about 10 and watched it ALL the time.)
- Wimbledon (a romantic comedy, with my favourite sport! What's not to like?)
- Notting Hill (classic Brit romcom. I like it better than Four Weddings and a Funeral, but most people disagree.)
- Donnie Darko (I still don't completely understand it, but I still like it.)
- A Walk To Remember (Aww! So romantic! And quite sad. And quite sentimental.)
- Saved! (I love the whole Christian-mocking thing. No offence to anyone.)
- Tuck Everlasting (not much to say, but I love it!)
- Camp (I can so relate to this movie. And it's about a performing arts camp! That's totally me!)
- Mean Girls (possibly the best high school comedy ever!)
- The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (perfect movie to watch with your friends!)
- The Sound of Music (obviously!)
- Annie (1999 version. NOT the 1982 version.)

FAVOURITE AUTHORS
- Meg Cabot (obviously!)
- JK Rowling (ditto!)
- Enid Blyton (the epitome of my childhood!)
- Noel Streatfeild (ditto!)
- Philip Pullman
- Bill Bryson (love him! He's hilarious!)
- Lemony Snicket

FAVOURITE ALBUMS
- The OC mixes (1, 2, 4 and 5. 3 is a Chrismukkah album and I don't have it.)
- The 'A Walk To Remember' soundtrack
- The 'Les Miserables' soundtrack
- The 'Mary Poppins' soundtrack
- The 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' soundtrack
- The 'CATS' soundtrack
- The 'Shrek' soundtrack (yes, really!)
- The 'Fame' soundtrack
- The 'Annie' soundtrack
- Delta Goodrem's 'Innocent Eyes' (brings back memories!)

Of course there are also hundreds of songs I love but these are the albums I particularly like.

FAVOURITE ACTORS/ACTRESSES
- Reese Witherspoon
- Susan Sarandon
- Johnny Depp
- Zach Braff
- Natalie Portman

FAVOURITE TV SHOWS
- The OC (duh!)
- Desperate Housewives
- Scrubs (I think I am obsessed with it at the moment!)
- Friends
- 8 Simple Rules
- Will & Grace
- Neighbours
- Smallville (I still don't get a lot of it. maybe because I've missed like 4 years of it.)

Interesting, none of my favourite shows are British. I guess I don't like British TV that much.

Gotta go, my dinner's ready. Hope that was an enlightening experience!

Lots of love,

Meg Cabot Ambassador!

Remember a few weeks ago I said I'd applied to be a Meg Cabot Ambassador? Well I got it! I got a letter and certificate, a phone charm and a copy of Meg's latest book, Avalon High, to review. It's really cool! I am one of 100 in the UK.

Anyway, on to other news...

1. I won the debate final! I was so sure we had lost but we didn't! I had to go up in assembly to get the cup. So that was also really cool.

2. I haven't actually been watching that many films recently. Oh, I saw a bit of Sleepless in Seattle on TV. Oh yeah, I also watched Shall We Dance?, which is a bit of mindless fluff but better than watching paint dry. I still haven't watched Brokeback Mountain. Damnit!

3. In the Music Theatre Group I'm in at school we're doing a medley from The Producers, so I should watch that film of it, you know, the new one with Matthew Broderick, Will Ferrell, Uma Thurman, etc.

4. There's nothing good on at the cinema lately. Nothing! There's V for Vendetta, but I don't think it's my kind of thing, as much as I like Natalie Portman, and it's by the makers of The Matrix, which I didn't like much anyway. So I'll give that a miss.

5. I have discovered the Garden State website, which has really cool graphics, and Zach Braff's blog, at http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/gardenstate/blog/. Check it out.

6. I am going to have to do a New Yorkan gangster accent for a production with my drama group. I am CRAP at accents, especially American ones. So that is going to be a huge embarrassment. Great.

7. Speaking of New York though, I may be going over the Easter holidays, to visit my ex-stepmother Carol. I really hope I can go, I've been dreaming of going to NY for...... I don;t know how long. A long time.

That's all for now.
Lots of love,

The Oscars

I love Scrubs! I seriously love it. It's hilarious!

Anyways......

- The Oscars have happened! My opinions:
1. I'm glad Reese Witherspoon got Best Actress. Not sure if her performance as good as everyone says, but she did do extremely well and she's one of my favourite actresses, so I'm happy.
2. Crash got Best Picture? I haven't actually seen it so I can't comment, but I was sure it would be Brokeback Mountain (which I still need to see, by the way). But I suppose everyone expected that.
3. Philip Seymour Hoffman..... no surprises there.
4. George Clooney... that's cool. Jake Gyllenhaal would have been nice, but whatever.
5. Rachel Weisz (sp?).... I'm happy about that. One, she's British, and two, she seems really nice and is a very good actress.

- I was in a debate on Monday (the motion was 'This house believes single-sex schools are beneficial'). My side were proposing. And we won! So now I have the final this Monday . The motion is 'This house believes Severus Snape is evil'! It's actually really hard to do. I haven't even written my speech yet. I really need to get going, because I want to win. We won the house debating tournament last year and I want to repeat that. Plus, I've never yet lost a debate and I don't want to break that cycle!

That's all folks!

New DVDs

OK, I haven't updated for AGES! I've been so swamped with schoolwork lately. Speaking of schoolwork, I have about six hours of homework to do today, so I really should get started on that.

1. I saw Mary Poppins in London yesterday! (The stage musical, not the film). It's the second time I've seen it and it's SO GOOD! Amazing. If any of you ever get a chance to see it, do! The music and set and staging and everything is just so good.

2. I've saw The Crucible in Stratford-upon-Avon with my school on Thursday, at the RSC. It was also very good but we hadn't studied it at all so I didn't really get some bits of it. Excellent acting though.

3. I have bought the DVDs of Garden State and Saved!. I've been watching Graden State a lot and have watched all the special features, audio commentaries, etc. It's one of my favourite movies, I think.

Would write more but my dad needs help putting curtains up (random, I know).
I'll try and post again later.

Bye!
